The Heartbeat Behind CORE

With free courses that cover a wide curriculum of theological topics, CORE provides a rich foundation that will strengthen your walk with Jesus.

By participating in CORE, you will:

1. Learn to walk more closely with Jesus.
2. Stabilize your theology, biblical values, and deepen your faith.
3. Become better equipped to lead, shepherd, and teach others to follow Christ.

"You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also." 2 Tim. 2:1-2

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most
important thing about us."
- A.W. Tozer

SPRING SESSION

The goal of this 4-week course is to equip our church to understand, explain, and apply the core truths of Christianity. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 7-9 pm at the Plexpod. We have made this course completely free for our church. Participation in this class requires reading, journaling, and bringing your Bibles. (All Bible verses in this course, unless otherwise noted, will be out of the ESV translation.)

Week 1 - Systematic Theology 101

This will cover key theological truths that shape our faith.

Week 2 -  Intro To Apologetics

This is to inspire our community to share their faith and be prepared to face difficult questions and conversations, which are increasingly common in our society.

Week 3 - What Is The Church?

This covers a basic history of the Church, including the key markers of the first-century church and what our role is in seeing her continue to thrive in our generation.

Week 4 -  What Is Biblical Discipleship? - How To Make Jesus' Last Words Our First And Greatest Work

This will help us refocus on the fundamental biblical mission of transformational discipleship that brings to life the kind of follower of Jesus we are called to be and we'll have a time of discovering our spiritual gifts around tables together.

We’re working on some new courses as well to add to these 4 essential classes! CORE is now a consistent rhythm of our church and is a requirement for all of our Discipleship Group (D-Group) leaders to complete. Stay posted for dates for the next round.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will classes be recorded and offered at a later date?

As of now, we are not offering recordings of classes. This is an in-person course and will require a personal commitment

to be a part of it with others.

Is it required to attend every class in order to sign up?

While attendance is not mandatory, we highly encourage you to make each class a priority as the content is specifically designed to be best learned in a four-week period. However, it is mandatory for all our D-Group leaders to attend all 4 sessions.

Do I have to pay to attend CORE?

As of now, CORE is free for all our church members at VIVE.

What is the workload like for CORE classes?

We believe that Scripture calls men and women to become mature in Jesus. Therefore, in these CORE classes, you will be asked to work towards that deepened maturity through reading and reflecting on your own, thinking, as well as practically applying what you learn which reinforces the subject matter of the class. These courses are designed for post-high school and up! We will be working on CORE Students and CORE Kids in the future.

How can I become a Discipleship Group Leader?

We have more information under the D-Groups section on our website. We have a discipleship pathway, and anyone interested in leading others in Discipleship at VIVE must be consistent on Sundays, actively serve on a team, be part of the life of our church, understand our core values and theological beliefs, complete these 4 weeks of CORE, and understand our theological positions and the values that we are anchored to.

What can I expect in each class?

This will be an exciting classroom-like feel with round tables and lots of note-taking. Each week, we will provide a packet for the content we are covering and topics you can take home to study on your own. If there is time afterward, we want people to engage in discussions about the session topic and will help facilitate questions and group conversations.
